The Panerai Radiomir Collection
The Luminor Marina series by Panerai is an extension of the Luminor collection. The watches are water resistant to 300 metres, making them ideal for seagoing watch enthusiasts. The Luminor MaIn 1936 Panerai was commissioned by The Royal Italian Navy to develop an exclusive watch able to withstand extreme conditions. The prototype had a cushion-shaped case and markers coated with a luminescent material called Radiomir. By 1938 production had started on the Radiomir collection which at the time would be provided to each member of the Italian Navy. The legibility was improved by using fewer, larger numerals and more hour markers. The Radiomir became the first water-resistant military watch in history. The cushion-shaped case remains to this day and the Radiomir collection is distinguished by its large, bold dial. Technically excellent, each Radiomir comes with a Panerai modified automatic movement with functions including an 8-day power reserve.
