The story behind the Royal Oak Offshore
In 1993 Audemars Piguet introduced the world’s first over-sized watch, the Royal Oak Offshore. Audacity was the key design principle, taking functional high-tech materials and components and using them to create a dramatic aesthetic. The collection uses materials like ceramic, rubber and carbon to create genuine sports watches designed to be rugged as well as beautiful. The Watch Gallery range includes men’s and ladies chronographs and genuine diving instruments with a water resistance of up to 300 metres. All models feature the traditional Royal Oak octagonal bezel, in reference to the tree that saved King Charles II from his enemies and gives the original collection its name.
